Our 3 Favorite Ways to Bake Edibles at Home

“Special brownies” and baking with cannabis have been around pretty much since the discovery of this beautiful herb. Thankfully, edibles have come a long way since that time. Lucky for our community, popularization and creativity of edibles has grown even more since the legalization of cannabis in Canada.
Thanks to grow tents and botanical extractor appliances such as the Magical Butter Machine, it’s easier than ever to make infused treats at home with you own cannabis!
It may seem intimidating to try to incorporate an earthy and pungent herb into sweet treats, but when starting with a simple base such as cannabutter or infused coconut oil it’s easy to adapt into all of your favourite recipes. The nice thing about baking with cannabis is that you can make your infusion stronger or as mild as you like by adding more/less cannabis into. Edibles are also great for consuming on the go, or for those who like to micro-dose and eat a little bit at a time.

INGREDIENTS
● 1 ¼ cups sugar
● ½ cup cannabutter, melted
● 2 eggs
● 1 ½ cups (3 to 4 medium) overripe bananas, mashed
● ½ cup buttermilk
● 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
● 1 tablespoon orange zest (optional)
● 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
● 1 teaspoon baking soda
● 1 teaspoon salt
● 1 tablespoon cinnamon (optional)
● 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter and flour the bottoms only of two mini loaf pans, or one large loaf pan.
  2. Beat the cannabutter and sugar with a hand mixer or the paddle attachment of a stand mixer. Add the eggs, one at a time, and beat at a low speed until well blended. Add the mashed bananas, buttermilk, vanilla, and orange zest. Beat at medium-low speed until smooth.
  3. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Add them to the wet mixture while beating on low speed, and continue beating until just moistened.
  4. If using nuts, fold them in and pour the mixture into pans.
  5. Bake two mini loaves for 50–60 minutes, or one large loaf about 70–75 minutes. When done, a toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean. Let them cool completely (approximately two hours) before slicing. If stored in an airtight container, loaves will keep about five days at room temperature, or 10 to 12 days refrigerated.
This recipe claims to be the best weed brownie recipe on the internet. We agree. Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS

● 1/2 cup of pot butter (Remember, if you want to make a weaker batch simply use 1/4 a cup of weed butter and 1/4 a cup of traditional unsalted butter.)
● 1 cup white sugar
● 1/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
● 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
● 1/4 teaspoon of salt
● 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
● 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
● 2 eggs

DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Grease a pan with cooking spray or by lightly coating a paper towel with cooking oil and rubbing it down. You want your pan to be around 8×8 or 9×9 inches, but if you don’t mind thinner brownies, a larger pan can work. Just make sure you check the brownies after 15 minutes instead of 25 or 30.
  3. Mix your cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder together in a mixing bowl and set it aside.
  4. Melt your butter down in a saucepan until it is a liquid, being careful not to let it reach a boil. You want your butter melted but not hot.
  5. Mix sugar and vanilla into the butter.
  6. Add your sugar, butter, and vanilla to the mixing bowl with your other dry ingredients, along with your eggs.
  7. Beat the mixture in your mixing bowl until your mixture is velvety.
  8. Pour the brownie batter into your baking pan.
  9. Put your brownies in the oven, and let bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
  10. When your brownies are done, allow them to cool so you don’t burn your mouth.
